Monte's designs are some of the most original products the bird market has seen in years. The Spirit Faces are inspired from German Folklore. Old Germanic legends held that house ghosts or wights had a powerful influence on an individual's good fortune. These spirits were responsible for the well-being of the family. While these spirits rarely took human form, Monte's inspiration for the various faces on the birdhouses is his vision of what the spirits might have looked like. These carved birdhouses catch the imagination of "Birders" all over the world, and they never fail to produce a smile and a chuckle when a bird flies into the Spirit's nose and then turns and peeks out at you.
These birdhouses supply shelter for small birds, i.e., wrens, finch, nuthatch, chickadee, etc., the birds enter through the nose.
