of Decorative Birdhouses .
For some people, a birdhouse is simply utilitarian in nature; however, for others they can be something much more creative. Birdhouse art offers woodworking enthusiasts a unique way to stretch their skills and imagination while creating a shelter for local bird species. And because there are very few rules when it comes to birdhouse design, the only real limitation is the imagination.
Folk-art painting styles are often used in birdhouse art projects. Painting is something that nearly anyone can do and is a very effective way of customizing any birdhouse. Unfinished birdhouses are commonly sold through a variety of sources, both locally and online, and these are the ideal “blank canvases” for any burgeoning folk artist.
Of course, if you have the necessary skills, birdhouse art can venture into the world of architecture. Highly experienced woodworkers have been known to create birdhouses that are modeled after classic styles of architecture and are nearly unbelievable in their attention to every conceivable detail. However, such birdhouses are almost always quite expensive and usually have to be ordered directly from the artist.
