of Simple Bird Houses.
Building and decorating a bird house is a fun project for both adults and children. If you are interested in bird house crafts and construction, you need to follow a few rules when it comes building the bird house. First of all, you will need to look into what species of bird you are looking to attract.
The type of bird you can expect will be directly influenced by the size of the entrance hole as well as the height of the birdhouse. Too small and the bird might not be able to enter and if it is too large, more aggressive birds might take over the nest.
You should also construct it out of cedar wood that is ¾"thick. Cedar wood weathers well and is naturally resistant to decay. Also, any wood that is thicker than ¾ of an inch may make the inside of the bird house too hot for the young birds.
If you and your family want to decorate the bird house with bird house crafts, make sure that the paint and decorations you use are not black. Having black paint is going to raise the temperature inside the birdhouse.
Although perches look very attractive and are fun to decorate with bird house crafts, you should avoid making a bird house with a perch. Birds do not use them and they are only a part of the bird house that a predator can use as leverage.
