of Birdhouse Pole.
One of the drawbacks to putting a birdhouse in your backyard is that when the birds arrive, so do the predators. Unfortunately, it’s an unavoidable part of nature; but the risk to your feathered friends can be greatly reduced by placing your birdhouse atop a birdhouse pole. Doing so places the birds effectively out of reach of their would-be stalkers.
Of course, a birdhouse pole does very little good if it is placed near tree branches or rooflines, as predators can still gain access through these points. Instead, it is recommended that these poles be installed in open areas, away from trees, structures, or power lines. Furthermore, experts also recommend applying a thin layer of grease to the pole in order to keep animals from attempting to climb it.
A birdhouse pole can be purchased through most home and garden centers. However, if we are being honest, a pole is a pole, and as such they can also be purchased through hardware stores, lumber yards, and even fencing companies. All that is required is that it maintains a stable, firm foundation for the birdhouse, and that it keeps it high enough off the ground to keep it safe from predators.
