of Chickadee Birdhouse.
The Chickadee is a bird species that can be found throughout much of North America. They are a very popular species for bird watchers due to their unique appearance and natural curiosity. It is for this reason that the Chickadee birdhouse is one of the most commonly sold types of birdhouse in the country.
A Chickadee birdhouse is easy to recognize, as they are almost always built in roughly the same design. The general shape is a rectangular box, set with its longer side on a vertical axis and covered with a roof that slopes back to front. The entrance hole is usually cut to be about 1 1/8 inch in diameter and is set several inches above the floor of the enclosure. They also often include a removable side panel to allow for easy cleaning.
For most people, visiting a local home and garden center is the easiest way to find a Chickadee birdhouse for the backyard. Most of these retailers will carry at least a few of these birdhouses on hand, and they are usually relatively inexpensive. However, there are many sources from which kits or plan sets can be purchased, for those that want to try their hand at a simple woodworking project.
